Sibling Love

These beautiful siblings were so much fun to photograph! My seven year old daughter is in the same class as the youngest sibling above. She reminded me to capture his "amazing eyes!" They were a true joy getting to know. Best of luck to this great family as they make their way from Maryland to North Carolina.

Senior 2010

This beautiful senior had a session scheduled last year, but thanks to rain, rain, and more rain, we had to wait until April Fool's Day to get some sun! Well, it was worth the wait, 70 degrees, and nothing but sun! We had a great time enjoying the day, along with capturing some great images.

Wonderful Newborn

Although I am cutting back on my photography sessions, I am still continuing my art and education. I hope to return full time to photography some time in the future. I recently had the pleasure of working with two other amazing local photographers on a newborn session for baby K. She was such a little doll, and her parents were doing an amazing job with their first baby. The black and white image is one of my personal all time favorites. I feel a true connection to my images, and I use a great deal of love when taking, and processing them. Thank you for looking!

Seriously, I love this little girl! I know I would love to have her curls for just one day. I've taken little A's photographs from birth on. She is the youngest of five, way to go Mom on keeping up with photographs!

This little one below is a very special baby to our family. She was featured as a newborn in one of my prior blogs! Happy seven month b-day Audrey. I'm sure your saying Awww....., she is too cute, Yes?

Baby Fever

After spending a few hours with this little one, along with her three siblings, I left this session wanting just one more child:-) She is classic baby, with the smile to match. We all had a great time watching her entertain us!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Thanks for taking the time to view my blog. This blog showcases recent work along with upcoming events and photography news. I am a maternity, infant, child, senior, and family photographer serving Southern Maryland including St. Mary's County.

Wow, these three, that's right THREE babies were a blast! They were all perfect and although we mixed them up (just a little!) I think we figured it out in the end:-)

New Year, New Camera!

Happy New Year! I am so happy to begin sessions again and I will be bringing along my new camera! My new camera will allow me to operate inside while still using natural light! It will also allow me to offer larger print sizes of 16x20 and up.

Happy Holidays

I am so happy to have a minute to wish everyone happy holidays! The picture above is from our brief vacation to Williamsburg, Virginia. The wreath is from a home in Colonial Williamsburg. The houses are each judged on their all natural decorations and they are amazing each year. Williamsburg is a great place to visit this time of year. My number one recommendation is afternoon tea at the Williamsburg Inn. The Inn's decorations are unreal with beautiful gingerbread houses and elaborate trees.

This year has been very exciting as my first year in business. I have learned so much and I credit all of the amazing families I have worked with. The holiday season was very busy and I am excited to take some time in December to learn my new camera and continue my education as a photographer.

In 2008 all of my returning clients will receive a complimentary 5x7! I will also continue my complimentary 8x10 referral bonus! I had so many clients receive multiple 8x10s in 2007 and I would not have the great new clients I work with without you. Thank you again for all of your help!

Seniors

This senior was a joy to photograph! He is nice, smart, athletic, and his parents deserve five stars for raising such a great kid.

All seniors from the graduating class of 2008 will receive eight complimentary wallets with their session. They will also receive either 16 complimentary wallets or a complimentary 8x10 with each friend that books a session!

This is a photograph from a recent session with an amazing family awaiting the arrival of their second baby. They are not sure of the sex but my guess is a girl!

Fall into Fall

Where did the summer go? I am so excited about all of my upcoming sessions especially with the Fall colors arriving very soon. I love the photography of this child because he has the Fall breeze in his hair but still has his summer tan. He along with his sister were a treat to photograph!

Senior Fun

The pool is closed, school is back in, and fall is around the corner. In the photography world, this is known as the Christmas season. Yes, Christmas season!!! Many studios close in December and I will not be taking any appointments past November in order to ensure pictures for the holidays arrive in time. I will however take newborn or first birthday appointments in December with a delayed gallery.

My husband thought it would be a terrific idea to visit Flag Pond in Calvert County. I thought it was a great idea as well. What we didn't consider (temporary loss of reality due to too many Sunday morning pancakes,) is that taking two fully clothed children to the beach probably was not the greatest idea. We ended up at the end of the long hike (forgot strollers as well) and our children were instantly in the water. The poor families that had to watch our children swimming in a diaper and Nemo underwear. The good news is we had a blast and found two (very tiny) shark's teeth. The bad news is my husband had to carry two children equal to 56 pounds up the hill to the parking lot which was about a 1/2 mile away. I was happy to remind him that that was about the weight I carried (plus a few pounds, but who is counting) when I was pregnant:) Our next visit will include bathing suits, strollers, and towels!

I have one session spot open for the end of August. I was telling a new Mommy the other day that although my calendar may be full, I try to make room for newborns and those other special times that require a photographer sooner.

I am always telling clients that I love proofing pictures because I get to see very close up the detail and beautiful colors of different eyes. I love this example because you can see my reflection in this child's beautiful brown eyes.

Vacation Tips

We just returned from Williamsburg, Virginia and had a blast! After half of us being sick on our vacation last year, we had very low expectations. This can be a good thing when things go well and you are surprised! I captured this image of my DD (darling daughter) at the time share we were staying at called Powhatan Plantation.

As promised, my special tip that involved detailed research. When going anywhere that involves crowds, always go to your left! Why the left you may say. Most of us are wired to go the the right (right handed.) I noticed that when we entered the amusement park, the line was shorter on the left. As soon as your in, go to the left and you will notice that most people are rushing to the right (silly people.) When in line to get food, again, go left. I neglected to follow my own tip and watched two people in the left line of the eatery while my line (the right one) was 20 deep. I hope you use this tip on your next vacation and if it doesn't work for you, you didn't hear it from me:)

Summer has been wonderful thus far. This weekend my family and I spent time picking raspberries and spending time on the beach, all in little old St.Mary's. I am starting to believe there is no reason to leave in the summer with all of the wonderful activities. We all know winter is a different story:)

This great little helper along with his family pointed out the beautiful sunset picture below. Every family has a photographer in it!
I am enjoying photographing families and am excited to start photographing older children along with seniors. The father below is making an amazing sacrifice for our country as he begins a tour in Iraq.

Summer Sessions

May is quickly becoming my favorite month! Amazing weather, beautiful flowers, and spending time with family outdoors are a few of the reasons:) This month plan to take advantage of local beaches before the pools open up, or take the family to pick strawberries. Start a sunflower garden (that's what I'm doing). Don't forget to grab your first bushel of crabs! Have a wonderful month.

On the photography front, I am happy to say that May is booked and June, August, and September are filling up! I plan to keep a minimal amount of appointments so that I can focus on my clients and continue to learn and grow as a photographer. All of the families I spend time with are wonderful and they all have all taught me a few tricks:)

We were recently lucky enough to visit beautiful Sanibel Island in Florida. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures:) Sanibel is famous for it's beautiful sea shells and the sunrise picture above features tourist combing the beach for shells.

On the photography front, summer sessions are booking up! I offer a limited amount of sessions to ensure I provide great service to my clients. It's never to early to book your family session for your Christmas pictures. You can check the calendar on my website to view availability.

Tiny Visitor

We were so happy to have our three month old nephew visit this past weekend. I think I may have tired him out chasing him around with the camera all weekend. I love sleeping babies so I was happy to catch him taking a nap!

I was so excited to receive my first necklace from Isabelle Chase. I have the tile necklace above and it features one picture on each side. This works out really well if you don't have a picture of your children together that you adore. We all know how challenging it can be to catch them together:)

The coral and pearl necklace above is also amazing. It's for my mother's birthday, shhhh!

I love this jewelry because it is waterproof and you can wear it in the shower or at the pool. I don't find much time to take my jewelry on and off so this feature really serves it's purpose.

I have been spending much of my free time working on my photography. It makes me so happy to catch beautiful images of children. I am so lucky to have friends that allow me to chase their children around with my camera for practice! My hope is to focus on candid photography with natural light. The following pictures are all natural light, yeah, it is a work in progress. The two babies are from our playgroup, "thanks guys!"

I had a blast taking the pictures of Blake because she refused to smile. I told her that no matter what, she was not to smile. You all know that telling her that made her smile, a little Mommy trick to add to my bag.

Josie - Nine Months Old

I rocked Josie to sleep tonight and I felt very sad that she is growing up so fast. I always tell my friends I wish I could freeze her. She is a wonderful baby with an amazing personality. I took 80 pictures of her the other day and not one smile. She is very happy but lets you know with her voice. I told Blake I would pay her $1.00 if she could make Josie smile. The picture will show you that Blake made her smile, she's a smart one, and $1.00 richer.

At nine months Josie weighed in at about 17.6 pounds. Her favorite acitivies include playing the piano, putting dangerous objects in her mouth, visiting with Chance, attempting to climb the stairs, reading her baby books with the family, rolling around with Blake, and hanging out on my hip. What can I say, I'm in love!!! When I was pregnant people told me that I would love Josie as much as I love Blake, and at the time I could not imagine, but they were right.

Summer Time

This summer has gone way too fast. We had what I will call a memorable vacation to Chincoteague, Virginia, Ocean City, Maryland, then Williamsburg, Virginia. Our poor Josie was the first to be sick followed by Blake. Poor Blake's body decided to play a mean joke on her and cursed her body with a high temperature the entire vacation with the exception of the last day. The good new was she was able to spend quality time with her Mom Mom who played nurse the entire weekend and luckily is a nurse by profession. I'm sure Blake was her best patient!

Our top ten of our vacation moments include:

Mr. Whippies Ice Cream Spot in Chincoteague
The Fractured Prune in Ocean City
Spotting what we believed to be a shark outside Matt's parents place. Our own "Shark Week"
Playing at the beach with grand parents
Hanging out in the hot tub, which we kept luke warm to accomidate the kids
Trying to consume ice cream each day for two weeks
Coming home and jumping on the scale, oh no!!!
Playing gestures with family, our stomach hurt the next day from laughing so much.
